Last Day in London

West Ham V Chelsea football match
Our last day in London, oh so sad, yet oh was it fun.  We hit up the home pitch (field) of the West Ham United Football Club and saw their regular rivarly game with Chelsea.  The match, a blow out was rather lame, but being at a English Premier League game was everything I had ever dreamt of.  The fans were drunk, loud, and rowdy.  The beer delicious, and the action non-stop.  After the game we managed to make our way back into London after a little anthropological field research of European post-football match fans in a pub next to the stadium.  All they did was sing and drink.  Quite entertaining.
Halftime of the game.  Notice how many people left to get more beer

The other team just scored, so what else would one do but bang on the wall and swear profusely
West Ham lost, but that didn´t stop these loyal fans and us from having a pint
These loyal fans sang songs for hours after the game despite the loss.  Dads even brought their kids into the pub

Once our field observations were complete we eventually found our way back into the central part of Lodon.  At this point we had only one thing left to do while in the U.K., eat curry and go clubbing.  Conveniently we killed two birds with one stone, and went to a club that served our curry we desired.  After indulging in our Indian feast, very good by the way, we danced the night away to all sorts of American music that was popular in the states at least three years ago.  But hey at least the Londoners were going buck wild when they played Nelly and Dr. Dre The Chronic 2001.  They are really behind on the this side of the pond.

Londoners, Jessie (top of her head bottom center) and Nathan (bottom right) gettin jiggy wit it to Will Smith, they totally played that

Bright and early the next morning we hopped on our Eurostar train which zipped us through the Chunnel (yes that is how they spell it over here) at 200 kilometers an hour where it dropped us off in Belgium.  We wanted to do a lot more here, like eating beligan waffles, beer, and their delicious chocolates.  We wandered around Belgium for about 15 minutes, saw a sweet hotel and its bathroom but not any good restaurants.  Instead we had to grab a beer in the station bar, Belgian however, and a prepackaged waffle, also Belgian, on the train to Amsterdam, without ever getting to eat our chocolates.

Going through the Chunnel, cant see anything cause we are 80 meters under the sea

Our consolation Belgian waffles and beer on the train to Amsterdam

The internet in Amsterdam were really hard to find.  Could only find cafes of another type. We´ll give you a post on Amsterdam tomorrow or the next day, because it sure deserves one of its own.

We are now in Barcelona. I (Jessie) am 24 today.  Yay me!  To celebrate we ate chocolate con churros for breakfast, had a drink with nachos on the beach of the Mediterranean Sea, and then swam in it.  After this post, the order of the evening calls for tapas, either sangria or Spanish red wine, maybe both, and possibly... clubbing.
Adios,
Jessie and Nathan

  1. Happy birthday Jesse! Sounds like your party is going well. Be glad you are not here-rain, rain, more rain, and cold. The maple leaves are going straight to brown and ugly.
Don't trash the Brits on the music thing. They've done their duty by giving us the Beatles.

  2. Oh how I miss the chocolate and churros. There is no chocolate here that is anything like the chocolate in Spain. Mmmm. Happy Birthday Jessie! Maybe you should try some huevos de torro for your birthday too!
